Where is the Art Deco Historical District?

You can find the Art Deco District in downtown Miami! Look between 23rd and 5th streets and along Collins and Washington Avenues and Ocean Drive. After taking some time to take in the sights, Miami Boat Cruises is located nearby in Biscayne Bay.

What Is Art Deco?

Art Deco architecture can be identified by its pastel colors and bright paints, garden fountains and manicured gardens, and ornate windows. Along with the hundreds of homes built in this style, their are plenty of hotels and larger buildings that also represent the Art Deco movement.

Why is the Art Deco District So Popular?

The Art Deco style that made itself popular in Miami was actually inspired by a similar movement spreading across Europe earlier in the century. Little Havana

This is less of a tourist attraction than a cultural center. Home to a historically Cuban migrant population, you’ll find restaurants and stores that immerse you in the islands culture. You might want to plan your visit around the Calle Ocho Festival in March, a celebration of Latin American culture that extends throughout the neighborhood.

Zoo Miami

With over 3,000 different animals housed inside its walls, Zoo Miami isn’t short on things to see. All of the animals’ homes are carefully maintained to be as close to the environments that they would experience in the wild. This zoo is one of the only in the United States that is located in a subtropical climate which gives it easy access to a wide variety of native trees and birds to decorate the park. If the kids get bored, there are plenty of places to get a sweet treat or head over to one of the many play areas.
